About the Event
Every year, the CCIL Annual Conference is attended by more than 300 professionals and students from across Canada and around the globe, including over 80 highly respected speakers in international law. This year’s in-person conference will be held on November 13–14, 2025 in Ottawa. The theme of this year’s conference is “Friends, Enemies, Frenemies: Engagement and Retaliation in International Law”.
The keynote speakers will be: Lloyd Axworthy (former Minister of Foreign Affairs), Gabrielle Marceau (a Professor and former legal adviser in international disputes at the World Trade Organization) and Jean-Marc Thouvenin (a Professor of International Law and Secretary-General of The Hague Academy of International Law).
This year’s conference promises to bring together leading voices in international law to explore timely and thought-provoking issues shaping our global legal landscape.
