About the Event
Arts + Human Rights in conversation: Meditations on conflict & peace
Join us for the launch of an exposition of transdisciplinary international law-arts research-creation (TILARC) reflecting on core questions about human rights, humanitarian law, conflict, and peaceful resolution of disputes. Oonagh E. Fitzgerald’s works pose questions about what the UN Charter says and what happens beyond the words, the human propensity for inhumanity, the impotence of being a bystander in times of conflict, the value of words of international law even when they are being violated, and the power of peaceful dispute mechanisms. With Oonagh Fitzgerald (artist, international jurist, and HRREC Senior Fellow) and Andrea D. Fitzpatrick (Associate Professor, Department of Visual Arts, Faculty of Arts, University of Ottawa).
